The Observatory Hotel, set within Christchurch’s historic Te Matatiki Toi Ora Arts Centre, offers a boutique stay where heritage and modern design converge. Surrounded by the city’s cultural heart, the hotel gives guests immediate access to the Botanic Gardens, Lumière Cinemas, Cellar Door restaurant and wine bar, as well as laneways filled with cafés, galleries, and artisan shops. Inside, its 33 uniquely styled rooms and onsite gym create a balance of relaxation and vitality—positioning The Observatory as both a retreat and a springboard into Christchurch’s creative energy.
Hosper’s production followed the perspective of a single traveler, showcasing her journey from sunrise to bedtime. After a morning yoga session in the hotel gym, she steps out for breakfast at Quad Eatery, enjoys a film at Lumière Cinemas, wanders the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, and savors dinner and wine at Cellar Door. Each moment is woven together with intimate handheld shots, natural light, and sweeping aerials, before returning to the hotel and ending the day in the comfort of her boutique room. The result is a brand film that distills The Observatory’s essence into a narrative of discovery—where a stay unfolds as a seamless blend of heritage, lifestyle, and city vibrancy.
